Where the Network Is Today
The AETRON main network has run continuously since October 2025. It carries the base infrastructure: accounts and balances, block production, governance, and an EVM layer for Solidity contracts.
Both public networks now run the same runtime, and both include the AetronPoI pallet. The migration described on this page for most of 2026 is done in the sense that matters technically: the verification layer is on the main chain, not only on a test chain.
| Mainnet | Testnet | |
|---|---|---|
| AetronPoI pallet | installed, index 29 | installed, index 29 |
| Registration | launch phase, allowlist only | open |
| Emission | paused | running |
| Registered Neuronets | none yet | first one live |
| Managed gateway | not published | gateway-testnet.aetron.ai |
Endpoints for both are in Networks and Endpoints.
Launch Phase on Mainnet
Mainnet is still permissioned. The LaunchPhaseActive flag is on, which means creating a Neuronet, taking over one, and registering a miner all require the signing coldkey to be in an on-chain allowlist. The allowlist is currently empty, so those calls fail with NotInLaunchAllowlist for everyone. Governance opens it up either by adding accounts or by turning the phase off entirely.
On testnet the flag is off and registration is open to anyone holding testnet AET.
What Is Switched On
The pallet ships with its enforcement paths behind individual flags, and they are turned on one at a time rather than all at once. As of this check, the flags for verifier selection enforcement, bond enforcement, Pulse challenge enforcement, Pulse seed binding, attestation enforcement, the replay quorum gate, unstake friction, and the block author reward are all off on both chains. Their thresholds are still being calibrated against real hardware, and switching one on before its numbers are right would flag honest work as fraud.
This is why the same call can behave differently on two chains running the same runtime. The documentation describes the target behaviour of each mechanism; the flag decides whether the chain is enforcing it yet.
Emission
Emission is paused on mainnet. Blocks are produced and the pallet accrues nothing, so mining on the main chain earns no AET at present. On testnet emission runs, which is what makes it useful for testing the full loop from a request through verification to a payout.
The emission rules themselves are in place and unchanged: 1.5 AET per block before the first halving, a 33 million AET cap, halving driven by issued supply rather than by a calendar, and a 90/5/5 split between Neuronets, the block author, and the treasury. See Emission System.
What This Means for You
- The base network is usable today, including the EVM layer.
- Building against the PoI surface is best done on testnet: registration is open, emission is live, and there is a managed gateway to call.
- On mainnet, registration waits on the launch allowlist and payouts wait on emission being unpaused.
- Where a page here describes a mechanism that a flag still gates, it says so.
This page is updated as the flags come on.
